Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Unleash in NYC (and the reason why I barely use Uber)
One of my favorite pictures from fashion week
How GORGEOUS does Rachel Bilson look here? This was taken at the Giuseppe Zanotti party at Fashion's Night Out.
It's 12:20 am and I am going to bed.
Wow. For the first time in I don't know how long I am actually going to be before 2am! I was going to do a post/rant about the NY Times Britney article about her being in the poor house soon (This is DEFINITELY not true. Ms. Spears is going to be just FINE financially) but I will wait until tomorrow to grace you all with my opins. I just have to say that I was infuriated after I read that piece. Sleep tight y'all!
The cost of being high def HOT.
OK, so we all know celebs spend a TON on looking good, but the amount they spend during Oscars increases by 1000% especially when they know the world is watching them on high definition TV. Last year I wrote a piece about this phenomenon for Forbes.com. Stylists like Jennifer Rade (Angelina Jolie's stylist) can make up to $7,000 a day. Zoom whitening can cost you $1,000 for one sitting and a laser facial (to make sure you GLOW) can cost up to $600. And that's just the basics!! For a custom exercise regimen at a place like Peak Performance in NYC it can run you up to $1,000 a week for private training sessions and a customized diet by celebrity nutritionist Oz Garcia will run you close to $12,000. Ah the joys getting gorgeous...
Just when you think it couldn't get worse...
I was on my way to collect my fashion week invites from the office, when I found out Heath Ledger died in the most tragic way ever at 421 Broome st. in New York (pictured above).
As you all know, this isn't a typical story I follow. I watch the markets all day, think about going to sample sales or think of ways to make Macy's a better store. But this evening, I saw the crowds outside of the building where his body was being carried out on a stretcher. I read what other reporters saw outside of his Brooklyn home, I called all of my friends that knew him and listen to their stories. I went down to an old hang out of his (The Spotted Pig) to see what little bit of information I could find out about this man I knew nothing about.
It's now 2:12 am. I am exhausted. But with every story I asked to report out, I learned something really important today. As much as we kill ourselves for achievement, recognition or a certain level of success, all of those things don't really matter in the end. If they stop making us happy, then they just. don't. matter. My thoughts are sincerely with his friends and family this evening/early morning. For real.
