Happy 2018! While everyone was getting "back to life, back to reality" the first week of January, I was on vacation in New Mexico where I grew up. I didn't do much shopping (to be honest I tried to stay away from the mall as much as possible) but now that I'm back, it's time to focus on the six or so gifts that need to get returned. TV/Electronics Deals
Technology: CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is happening in January. That means stores will be clearing the shelves to make room for the 2017 models. Look for discounts on models that came out in January of up to 25% off at stores like Best Buy, PC Richards and sons and Amazon.
Video game + media
Depends on where you go, but look for discounts of up to 30% on DVDs, gaming merchandise, and in some instances LPs (for the retro peeps out there).

Tools & Hardware
December is an excellent time for tool and hardware deals. Look for significant discounts on power drills, wrenches, general tool sets at markdowns of up to 50% at Sears, Kmart and Lowes.
Christmas Decorations... after Christmas
Everyone knows holiday discounts see their greatest discounts after the holiday in question has passed, and this is no different for Christmas. If you wait until December 26, you'll see discounts of 40% to 75% off seasonal goods, at Home Depot, Crate and Barrel and JC Penney.
Winter Apparel/Clothing:
If you need a new parka or wool scarf, December clearance sales are a good way to get them and expect discounts of up to 40%. HOWEVER if you wait until January sales of upo 60-80% risk not getting the merchandise you want if you wait.
