Every time I try to be dilligent about updating this blog, I end up getting BURIED under a ton of work. It’s a little bananas. But tonight  I was especially inspired. Don’t know if it’s because my dear friend Joy moved to LA last week (I already miss her x 1000) or while walking to grab dinner tonight,  I walked by a tree that smelled like orange blossoms. Regardless, Here are belated pictures from Eileen’s incredible wedding. This one is of me and Sheila right before the reception.

Uggh. Apologies EVERYONE. With the 10,000 projects I have going on it is almost impossible for me to update the most important blog of all- my own!! Here are a couple pictures from my trip to LA. Actually these were probably the most interesting pictures taken while I was there- me walking Lady GaGa’s dogs Rumpus and Lava. So CUTE.

Super nova.

It’s not often that I get nice e-mails. In fact, most e-mails I get are from people who have seen me on TV and are complaining about the way I look or what I am saying or BOTH. But this weekend I got this e-mail which made me a little weepy. When I was in high school, there was a group of three girls we thought of as the “super stars.” The person that sent the e-mail below was on of them- someone I really admired and aspired to be like. And the fact that she can STILL encourage me to do great things… well that makes her super nova.

Hey Hitha,
I am not sure if you remember me, but I attended Fountain Valley, as well. I was [redacted] back then. Imagine my surprise this past weekend when I was folding clothes and watching episodes of MADE and there you were! I just wanted to write to encourage you and to say congrats on your awesome achievements! I sent your website link to [redacted] (currently residing n Africa) and to [redacted](currently residing in CA). We all say the same thing- you look great, and we are so proud of you. Sometimes, we take a glance into other people’s lives and fail to encourage them. Well, I wanted to make sure to wish you the absolute best. As for me, I reside in NM and have two small children and a husband named [redacted]. I have been married for almost 14 years, yikes!  I feel so old.  Well, hope this finds you well. God bless.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week day #3 started out with the Nicholas K, Mara Hoffman and Sergio Davila “3 in 1” show. I loved Nicholas K because it mixed a bit of punk with war correspondent. This is how I would dress if I had to cover anything in Iraq (HIGHLY unlikely). Love the layers with leggings. For those that know me well, you know this is a staple way of dressing for me when I am not on air.

Earlier this winter I braved the arctic cold of Ithaca, NY to be a MADE coach to a totally disheveled but adorable 15 year old. I essentially had to take her from a type “Z” personality to type “A” in six weeks making her into the ultimate “Power Girl.” It was not easy. At times I wanted to leave. There were times I would come home (meaning the hotel) in tears because I knew she was failing and I took it as a personal failure. I had to balance being upstate with my day job of fashion and retail analyst and had to frequently drive back to be on air to talk about the failing economy and a crumbling retail sector. And to top it off, I got a terrible case of the flu and didn’t eat for seven days. That SUCKED. Carrie’s transition wasn’t that apparent when the show wrapped. Her change was crystal clear however when she called me a week later to tell me that she was getting up early to work out and making an effort to get good grades. Being a ”Power Girl” meaning, a girl that can do ten million things and STILL look amazing.  Here is a “behind the scenes” clip re: what my MADE kid, Carrie thought of me.
